War Graves

During the week commencing 24th March 2014 the five headstones from the graves of the servicemen who lost their lives during the First and Second World Wars were re-installed in the cemetery by the War Graves Commission. The headstones had been removed when the cemetery fell into disrepair after its closure. It is very satisfactory to have these replaced where they belong. Following the installation of the headstones, a placard was attached to the sign at the cemetery enterance to indicate that the cemetery has official war graves.

The graves are of the following soldiers:

  • Albert Aram, Gunner 60014 Royal Garrison Artillery. Died 16th June 1919 aged 21
  • Samuel Bonser, Private 28269 18th (Queen ary's Own) Hussars. Died 3rd August 1918 aged 33
  • William Clewes, Private 27723 16th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment). Died 2nd August 1915 aged 42
  • Paul Harrison, Private 120629 4th Battalion The Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment). Died 28th November 1918 aged 26
  • Patrick Moloney, Gunner 14584776 Royal Artillery. Died 30th December 1945 aged 30
